Maite Karssenberg

I am a writer and historian. My first book, ‘Snijpunt Isfahan’, a story covering a trip through Iran with my father, an islamic geometry fanatic, was published in 2018 by Querido Fosfor. My second book (in progress) will be a biography on a forgotten 19th-century female writer and publicist named Geertruida Kapteyn-Muysken (1855-1920), who’s diaries and letters I found in an archive.

I write columns, book reviews, short stories, etc. for various periodicals. I also do editorial work and the occasional (live) interview and presentation. I also work(ed) as a bookseller and member of the jury of a national prize for fiction.
