With scissors and paper, plastic waste material and light, Klaske Oenema creates narratives that she performes seated besides an old fashioned overhead projector. She accompanies her hand made images with her voice, singing songs and sharing poems. Besides being a singer and visual artist, she also writes prose and makes short films based on the analogue technique of shadow play.
Paper, sound/song and text are the main media in which she works. Focus is usually the strangeness of life and the act of balancing – inner and outer, here and there, melancholy and humor, simplicity and complexity.
Oenema has performed her work on many different locations and very diverse scenes; at festivals like Noorderslag and Lowlands, art galleries and kitchen parties.
