Dagmar van Wersch

Dagmar van Wersch is a photographer without a camera. She studied Photography at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Dagmar uses existing imagery to focus and reflect on different aspects of our being. Her quiet stories are concerned with human nature, the human behaviour, interactions and experiences. They are about life.

Her way of working is intuitive and exploring. The images from her analogue archive (found holiday slides, pictures from old books), or from existing archives (such as a library or Google Street view) are selected and assembled in collages and image groups. Their original meaning and appearance changes by the arrangement, the process and the presentation.

Aside to her autonomous work, Dagmar takes care of images and promotional images for theatre makers, musicians and cultural institutions.
