Pottery Picnic for Racial Justice

Zaterdag | 11.00 | POST

Make ceramic planters and raise money for the Loveland Foundation!

“Loveland Foundation is committed to showing up for communities of color in unique and powerful ways, with a particular focus on Black women and girls. Our resources and initiatives are collaborative and they prioritize opportunity, access, validation, and healing. We are becoming the ones we’ve been waiting for.” (from Loveland’s website)

Join us on Saturday, 13 June in Amsterdam West to help raise money for Loveland’s therapy fund for Black women and girls by doing what we love– ceramics!

Each participant will create a unique hand-built planter and leave it with us for firing, and on pickup day find it full of soil and ready for planting with a sachet of summer seeds. Taught and organized by a group of local ceramicists who come from all over the world. We are not Black, but we believe that Black lives not only matter, but are vital.

The workshop will take place in the garden of our studio, in 1.5-meters spaced picnic plots (in case of rain, we can relocate inside the building). Please bring your own picnic blanket, and lunch if you want. White Label coffee will be served!

The event will be in English, but Dutch -speaking teachers will be present. Suitable for children 10+.

Due to generous donations from local businesses, €50 of your ticket price can go straight to Loveland’s Therapy Fund! Special thanks to Urban Resort, Studio Pansa, White Label Coffee, Pansy, and Wildernis for providing support. Our beautiful poster is by Alina Tang.
