‘Casting a Shadow Wherever We Stand is a multimedia exhibition in combination with a public program that presents new works created by five Amsterdam-based artists with different artistic backgrounds including dance, video, painting, sound and performance. The exhibition brings the body to the foreground, approaching the body that is dislocated from its original socio-cultural context for the viewer to better perceive what remains: its movement and posture. The body comes out as the embodiment of one way of living and thinking. While offering the possibility of understanding a particular context, it is also capable of resisting and altering its original setting. Each in their own way, the works relate to the complexity or ambiguity that lies in the relationship between the body and its identity.’
